Project Linus

Don't forget to make a quilt for Project Linus.  Our goal was 300 for the year 2009.  We more than met our goal.  Now it's time to get started for this year.

This year we would love it if everyone could make at least 3 Linus quilts.  After turning in your 3 quilts, you will get a ticket for a drawing for each additional blanket/quilt and at the November 2010 meeting we will draw one ticket for a free membership to Starlight for 2011.

Project Linus provides security blankets (quilts) to traumatized and/or critically ill children.

I know this may seem strange but if by chance you have a trip planned for Disney you can get  a free ticket by making 2 fleece blankets and then bringing them to me...NOT DROPPING THEM OFF AT A DROP off point...if you sign up thru disney to do this.  You can do this by going to Disney.com and clicking on give a day, get a day give away.  Then type in my zip code 64012 and you will find that you can sign up with them to bring 2 fleece blankets to me on Feb 13th and then you will get a voucher from Disney for a free ticket.  ANYONE can do this!! They must be at least 6 years old though.
Now having said that National contacted me this morning and they are looking to deliver 10,000 blankets thru Heart to Heart international right here in KC to the Nation of Haiti.  Blankets must be turned in for this by the 13th of Feb to me!  If you want to donate to this cause we are asking for single layer fleece blankets.  They must be at a drop off by Feb 10th to go to Haiti so please get them to us asap.

    Linus sewing at Harper's
    Please join us on the first Tuesday night of each month (6:30) at Harper's Fabrics.  There you can sew Linus quilts, cut out blocks, sort fabric, etc.  We have lots of donated fabric and Harper's provides machines, so just bring yourself and help a worthy cause.
    The next sewing time will be April 6th.  Call Harper's ( 913-648-2739). for more information and let them know you will be there.
